Blue winged Mountain Tanager
The Blue winged Mountain Tanager is a medium-sized tanager, it is chunky in appearance and is commonly found in Andean cloud forests from Colombia to Bolivia. It has a yellow plumage below and a black one above, with a blue patch on the shoulder and blue edges on its wing and tail feathers. Its yellow crown is also conspicuous. There is some variation across its range, with the population on the east slope of the Andes in Colombia and Ecuador showing a mossy green back. The bird is generally quite common and is considered a core member of mixed-species flocks that inhabit elevations between 1,200-2,500 meters. It can be found in forests, forest edges, and gardens. You can spot them during our bird photography tours in the Chocó Andino in Ecuador.
