The Sword-billed Hummingbird is a member of the Trochilidae family and has the longest bill in relation to its body size of any bird in the world. It has a distinctive muted green body color with a bronze-colored head. These hummingbirds can be found in the temperate zone of the Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia, at elevations of 2,500m to 3,500m. They are typically found in montane forest and edges, where they use their long bills to feed from tubular flowers. Sword-billed Hummingbirds also visit feeders. You can observe them during our tours to the Manu National Park.
