The Mitred Parakeet is a green medium-sized parakeet with a long tail and some red feathers on the face. It looks similar to the Red-masked Parakeet but usually has less extensive red on the face and lacks the red underwings seen on the Red-masked. This species is known for its loud screeching calls. The Mitred Parakeet has been introduced to Hawaii and California, where it may interbreed with the Red-masked Parakeet. You can spot this bird on tours in the Manu National Park.
