Heliodoxa aurescens
Rainforest
The Gould’s Jewelfront is a robust hummingbird with a thick beak and shiny green feathers. It has a large orange patch on its breast and a purple forehead. The male has a black chin while the female has a short white mustache stripe instead. Although primarily a lowland bird, it can be found in some areas of the eastern Andes. It is not commonly found in mature humid forests and occasionally visits feeders. You can spot it on our luxurious bird photography tours.
