Glistening green Tanager

Chlorochrysa phoenicotis
Mountains

The Glistening green Tanager is a stunning tanager species found in the Andean cloud forest of western Ecuador and western Colombia. The male has a striking emerald-green plumage with small red and white spots on the sides of its head, while the female and immature birds are slightly less vibrant and may lack the head spots. Typically observed in small groups, actively searching for food in the lower to middle levels of the forest, and often seen in mixed-species flocks. In some areas, they have been known to visit feeders. You can spot them during our bird photography tours in the Chocó Andino in Ecuador.
