Bearded Mountaineer
Oreonympha nobilis
Mountains
The Bearded Mountaineer belongs to the Trochilidae family. It is a fairly large hummingbird with a striking facial pattern and a long tail. When we talk about its colors, we can say that it has brown above, white below, with a brown head and black-and-white forked tail. Males have an iridescent green and purple gorget, and in some populations a blue forehead. On the other hand, females are similar but duller. This species is found in dry mountain scrub at high elevations. You can get to know it on the Manu Park tours.
